Lord have MERCY, I am too young to die of heart failure. But watching Gerard Butler save the nation for 120 minutes was a yearly highlight. Seriously his ability to look so unbelievably hot while taking down bad guys, hiding under rubble, and generally just being an attractive piece of man should be studied by NASA. Meanwhile, I can’t even pretend to know what this movie was about.

What is it with Nicholas Sparks books / books-turned-movies and guys who like to canoe ? Is there some sort of Southern romantic canoe coalition that I am unaware of ? Because all that was missing from Safe Haven were the white birds. The rain, of course, was there. Which brings me to what is it with Sparks and the canoes and the birds and the rain ??

Don’t get me wrong, I like to paddle a boat as much as the next person but I just can’t figure it out. Any Southern gentlemen want to take me for a canoe ride and show me what I’m missing ? Better yet, I’d love to meet Sparks and have HIM explain it to me, preferably while floating in the middle of a Spanish Moss covered river, surrounded by white cranes with the onslaught of impending rain clouds looming above.
